Emily - Final Presentation

For my final project I will be focusing on the themes of gender roles, sexuality and
media portrayals of women to articulate a commercial that outlines the expectations
placed on women by the media and the harm that it is causing.

My thesis is: The media’s depiction of women influences societies expectations of
females, which in turn, result in emotional, physical and social burdens among
American women.

Vision: I want to create a (hopefully entertaining) commercial that brings light to
the standards women are held to in modern society and film/reenact different ways
that American females are being harmed by it.

Chase - Final Presentation

For my project I am going to make a short video on how social media affects

romantic relationships.

I am going to have a few different scenes.  The first one is going to be a girl scrolling

through all her social media sites such as twitter Facebook, Instagram and then

Snapchat.  Then I am going to have a guy do the same thing.  Once the girl scrolls

through snapchat she sees a snapchat sent from another person of her boyfriend

hanging out and kissing another girl.  She then proceeds to call him and ask where

he is and he says he is at home.  He completely lies making the girl extremely upset

and ultimately she breaks up with him.

Topic:
Nature and Nurture:
Unatainable Beauty
Societies expectations of gender roles
biologically or socially constructed
Thesis:
In popular culture there are expectations created by society, such as gender roles and unatainable beauty, these are not biologically constructed, they are socially constructed expectations for our formulated society.

Media Artifact:
In the process of writing and recording a rap but instead of sexualizing women, sexualizing men
giving men an unatainable beauty and females the gender privilege and ‘power'

Kaylie - Final Presentation

Summary:

On a daily basis, we assume people’s preferred gender pronouns (PGPs), which in most casual conversations may not seem like a big deal. However, to transgender, genderqueer, and other non-binary individuals, it is. Gender non-conforming and trans* people face disrespect that stems from ignorance on a daily basis.  In fact, many people feel uncomfortable or even unsafe disclosing their true PGPs outside of designated safe spaces.  If people knew more about gender, even the basics like PGPs, trans* people would experience less prejudice and less violence.

Thesis:

Something that is almost never addressed in everyday human interactions, gender pronouns are generally assumed and can be a bizarre or uncomfortable topic for some to discuss.  The more routine we portray PGP disclosure to be, the more safe cis-dominated spaces will become. To ask someone’s PGPs when meeting them isn’t asking people for very much; in fact it is a small, easy act of consideration that on the individual level protects a person’s identity and on a larger scale affirms the validity of trans* people to live freely and safely in society.

Vision:

My vision for my final project is to make a meme that will be simple, yet effective. Its goal will be to make people see the need for change and understand that using PGPs is a necessary act of courtesy.  When researching memes for my project to understand what already exists in internet communities, I saw many offensive, hateful memes directed toward transgender people.  Many suggested that being transgender is a phase or is trendy.  However, I also saw a lot of positive memes that were in support of transgender people or made by trans people to illustrate their experiences. If the audience takes a couple seconds to empathize and think about how difficult it may be for transgender people, and the simple thing they can change to help ease that difficulty, then my meme will have succeeded.

Mohammed - Final Presentation

1.)    My final topic
·         Social media especially Facebook for example in Egypt has effected the people there and gave them the power to get together and fight against the government.
·         I.E Hosni stayed as the president for 30 years.
·         From being President to a victim into jail forever.
2.)    The argument
·         How social media played the major goal of reaching out the people’s needs where it helped them to get together at Altahrir square.
3.)    My media is going to be some photos that I take and modify it in a way that show my point and some videos that I put together at the end to come out with a video that will be my final output for the project
·         Social media not always saying the truth
·         For example, Aljazeera (pic0) lied a lot about what’s going on in Egypt. Aljazeera showed the opposite of what’s really going on (the picture down is the support)
·         The first picture where the man is holding a sing is saying “Fall of Aljazeera Chanel) The Egyptian people were mas against Aljazeera because of their lies.
·         The second picture is also a lie, where Aljazeera kept the same picture in two different times and lied about the contents.

MG - Final Presentation

Summary:
For my final project I chose to take a closer of look at the sexualization of female children focusing on dolls marketed to toddlers and pre-pubescent girls. The dolls currently on the market are not reflective of what an actual female child looks like and are also hyper-sexualized. From the manner of the dolls dress, features, and even their ‘biography’ there is a sexual element that is not beneficial for young girls to be inundated with. These dolls promote unhealthy body images and seem to promote the vapid female stereotype as well.
Thesis:
I argue that these dolls are detrimental to the development of young girls since they instill unrealistic standards. Additionally these dolls normalize the sexualization of children, which is obviously abhorrent. There needs to be awareness on the effects the dolls can have on young children.
Vision:
I chose to make a physical media artifact for my project. I used a Bratz Doll, one of the most popular dolls in the United States and then placed her in a diorama that was based off the prostitutes in the windows in Amsterdam’s red light district. I created a price list for various sex acts and juxtaposed it against some of the more juvenile elements of the doll’s packaging. I also altered the dolls ‘biography’ to be somewhat more sexual as well; however, somewhat disgustingly I only had to change/add about six to eight aspects of it to accomplish this.

Conner - Final Presentation

1. For my final topic I will be looking at and critiquing the societal perceptions of homosexuals and looking more into "straight" privilege. One major theme I will be looking at is how it is "cool" and "popular" to have a gay best friend and how some females use the idea of having a gay best friend as an accessory. Also looking into overgeneralized statements about homosexual males and how they all talk in high pitched voices, love fashion and shopping and the overall flamboyant stigma that all gay men have now due to the media and overgeneralizing a certain population. I also will look into "straight" privilege and how many straight people do not understand the privileges they have by being straight.

2. My argument is that the media overgeneralizes and stereotypes the gay male figure and then the idea is adopted by the general public and they have a stigma towards gay men which I believe is often negative and the media needs to represent gay men in many forms not just in one general stereotypical way. Also I believe that straight people aren't aware of the privilege they have by not being attracted to people of the same sex and I want them to realize that with being straight comes some forms of privilege.

3. For my final project I am creating a short film that is queering the media and also parodying it. The short film will have two different parts to it. The first will be like an A&E true story about coming out as heterosexual or straight. This is going to be a queering of the idea because straight people don't have to come out because being straight follows societal norms so there is no need to come out. For the second clip it will be a parody of The Real Housewives and it will also be queering the idea of women using gay men as accessories. Instead of housewives it will be two extremely flamboyant gay men talking together (to show the serious over generalization and to follow the norms in the media surrounding gay men portrayals). Also these men will be talking about "straight" people as an accessory and talking about straight people in a stereotypical way. This will be the queering part because instead of a group of rich girls talking about their gay best friends it will be gay men talking about their straight best friends.

Jordyn - Final Presentation

Summary
For my final project I chose to tackle the idea of online dating specifically the idea of
Catfishing. Catfishing is defined as fabricating ones identity online in order to trick
others into online relationships of any nature. As the Internet continues to grow so
too does Catfishing. Fabrication is seen online often but there is a clear distinction
between deceit and impersonation. Often individuals are able to alter their photos,
or profiles to make themselves appear more appealing than they are in real life, this
is the deception I am referring to. However my project specifically deals with
Catfishing, or impersonation. The direct use of another individuals photos all
together to alter ones appearance, gender, age etc. in a drastic way.
Thesis
I argue that Catfishing and deception online is wrong. One should be represented in
a similar way as they would be on a first date. The act of impersonation is wrong in
and of itself but the intentions that often lie behind such impersonation is even
worse. This photo was created to bring awareness to the deception online so that
participants can become more aware and thus more cautious online.
My Vision
In order to represent this type of offender I utilized a new tool to me, Photoshop.
Through Photoshop I created an image that depicted a young girl (typical of one
whose photo may be used to impersonate another) and an older man morphed into
one face. This was to show the sheer fabrication that often goes on online. My idea
behind the creation of this image is that it could be used as an advertisement that
could create awareness surrounding this topic. The text was used to give the
observer a better understanding of the message being portrayed

Gunther - Final Presentation

1. I chose to look into the controversy surrounding racist mascots. I looked at arguments and
facts from both sides while conducting my research and found out a couple things. One, the
people who support leaving the mascots as they are, seemed to be extremely rude and
uneducated on the issue. They reacted by calling the other arguments stupid and saying
derogatory things to those who held the opposite view. Second, those who supported changing
the racist mascots seemed to be a lot more educated on the issue and were more willing to
compromise to start on a road towards progression.
2. The term “Redskin” should be banned from sports mascots and the Washington Redskins
should change their name. However, teams such as the Cleveland Indians, Florida State
Seminoles, or the Atlanta Braves should not be forced to do so. I do not think these names have a
negative meaning or representation of Native Americans.
3. For my final project I am changing the name of the Washington Redskins to the Washington
Pigskins and creating prototype jerseys for the Pigskins. The new colors will be white, brown
and yellow and the logo will be a football. I will eliminate the color red, the name Redskins and
the Native American logo to show that the Redskins are no longer a part of the Washington
football organization. My pictures will be just like the ones Nike does when they unveil a new
jersey. The point of this is to create the sense that these jerseys are being unveiled and will be put
into use by the Washington Pigskins.

Ryoma - Final Presentation

For my final topic I decided to stick with hashtags and the impact they have in social media and influencing users of social media. Hashtags are a perfect way of uniting groups of people who have similar interests and during times of crisis. They also help bring to light social justice issues and is one of the greatest tools for marketing in the age of mass media, especially on Twitter and Instagram. Overall, hashtags help users find their target audience, improve click through rates, are great for research since they also become links to search queries, and even if they aren’t used for social justice or marketing there are always funny hashtags such as #WhyImSingle, #GiveLeoAnOscar, and etc.!
For my thesis, I am making the argument that hashtags are incredibly valuable during times of crisis and helping bring awareness to social justice issues, for example, #BlackLivesMatter and #IceBucketChallenge.
For my final project, my vision is to find 9 hashtags that I think changed the world in one way or another. Along with these hashtags will include pictures to demonstrate what the hashtag is referring to. Over the years of me using social media like Twitter and Instagram, I have come across hundreds of hashtags that were widely used during certain events or over stretches of time.

Monique - Final Presentation

Photo shop is deadly.  It has the power to negatively affect our society in exponential ways.  Photo shop is responsible for the spike in eating disorders.  Photo shop is also responsible for the concerning obsession of our societies unrealistic portrayal of body image.  Women and men are constantly trying to fit a certain look that is completely unattainable because of the use of photo shop.  Because of our advancements in media, most everyone has access to media if they want to.  It is all around us.  It is hard to ignore because of such an easy access.  A professional Photo shopper explained that 99.9% of all photos shown in media have been enhanced and edited through photo shop.  This being said, nationaleatingdisorders.org has a statistic saying, “Of American elementary school girls who read magazines, 69% say that the pictures influence their concept of the ideal body shape.  47% say the pictures make them want to lose”(Martin 2010).  If we compare the two different statistics, we can see how powerful photo shop is on the minds of the youth and how commonly used it is.  Even though many people know that the photos they are seeing in pop culture are altered, people are unable to separate fantasy versus reality.  For this specific project, I had to become tech savvy and learn how to use Photoshop as if I were editing the covers for magazines.  I could have easily taken photographs of celebrities and altered them but I wanted this project to hit home for my audience so I decided to edit photos of myself.  My classmates see me around campus or in class each week and know how I look, for the most part.  What will shock my audience is to see how easily it is to completely transform a photo with a single application.  Although I cannot speak to a nation, I hope this project helps my classmates differentiate between what is real life and what is not.

Adam - Final Presentation

My final topic is using social media platform to discuss an issue of whether or not college athletes should be paid for the sports that they play. I have created a slogan, "We Play, You Pay". This slogan/hashtag means that the athletes are playing the game you are watching on TV or watching in person, so there for they are playing and you are paying to watch them play. When you watch the team on TV you are supporting the team by making them money through watching it. Also if you are at the game you are paying for your ticket to be there. None of this money of which the players are bringing into the school do they actually see. With my topic for this activist media project is making a point that part of this money should go to the players.

The vision of my final topic in creating this hashtag #WEPLAYOUPAY or slogan, was to argue that college athletes to deserves to be paid a little sum of money. I think they should because a college athletes schedule there is little time for them to have jobs to earn a sum of money for things that they may need. Some may argue that being on a scholarship is enough, but in my opinion is not. I would like to see a regular student to have one semester or quarter of college athletes schedule and see how much extra time they have to have a job to earn a little extra money. They will find out quickly that it is almost impossible with practice, traveling and keeping up with your school work to have a job.

For the visuals since I have made a hashtag, I was going to post a quick blurb of what I’m arguing to professional athletes Facebook pages or their twitters in hopes they will retweet it or comment on the case. I thought this would be a good idea because since professional athletes have so many followers, if other see that they are taking a stance with this issue, hopefully their followers who see it will listen to them. I as well have created a shirt with the slogan, “We Play, You Pay” on the front of it with Boone underneath. With this shirt I’m going to go around to teams here at DU taking pictures of them wearing the shirt saying how they agree with my stance of why college athletes should be paid.

1) My topic focuses on the concept of fitspiration, or “fitspo” and the damaging effects of it on women’s self-esteem
2) My thesis is that fitspo images are entirely fake and set unrealistic expectations in the minds of women
3) I envision my final project to be a Tubmlr blog full of fitspo images and commentary that breaks down the images into what they really are- fake and unrealistic.
4) The blog so far: http://fitsposucks.tumblr.com

Brooklyn - Final Presentation

Summary
The purpose of my project is to demonstrate how the media critiques the bodies of female athletes first, rather than acknowledging the historical accolades they often acquire. Most of the time this happens when a female athlete has a strong figure, is muscular and may seem dominant. The media often creates this woman to be man-like and hyper masculine, unrecognizing the stigma they are creating between genders. Furthermore, women who do have this figure are often times critiqued more harshly based on the color of their skin.
Introduce pictures of Serena Williams and Ronda Rousey
Argument
I am arguing that being a strong woman does not mean a woman is masculine, it means she is strong. The media and society should recognize the ability of the individual rather than their figure. Through my project I also hope to reveal the double standard that occurs between men and women athletes and create a movement that acknowledges  #EveryStrengthIsSexy.
Vision
The vision of my project is to create a twitter account and uses the hashtag #EveryStrengthIsSexy. I will have picture of female athletes and over the picture will read a phrase that has been used to degrade the woman with a line through it (For example: a picture of Serena Williams would say “She’s Built like a Man.”) The same picture will be used and the hashtag will be placed in the same spot. I plan to use athletes of all body types that have been body shamed to show that every body or strength is powerful and beautiful.
Media used
I was going to show this video of Ronda Rousey explaining her take on body shaming: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6EgVD9-ypc
I was also going to read this quotes during the presentation
Serena Williams
“She’s built like a man” –Twitter
“Her rivals could try to emulate her physic, but understand, most choose not to” –New York Times
Ronda Rousey

“Lady Hulk”- YouTube commenter

Aleana - Final Presentation

1. My final topic is feminism and how it is represented in today’s media culture. I used Tumblr, a social media site to convey my thoughts and the thoughts of many of today’s feminists. Many users on the site are very liberal and post politically charged posts that have to do with important issues in today’s society. Feminism is a large issue that is talked about and blogged about on the site and I thought it would be cool to show this issue through Tumblr.
2. My argument is that feminism needs to be something that everyone supports, and not simply activist women trying to get a point across. Feminism is not controlling men or limiting men, it is about the complete equality of the sexes.
3. My vision for my final project is to create a Tumblr blog that reblogs many popular Tumblr posts that promote feminism. The blog will be a collection of different types of posts ranging from pictures to long text posts, short text posts, and text posts with many comments. This will give the viewer a comprehensive view of how feminism is promoted and represented on Tumblr and the thoughts of today’s society. Anyone can make a Tumblr account and contribute. I believe the culture of Tumblr is so unique because every user on Tumblr can choose to remain completely anonymous if they please. This creates an environment for people to fully speak their minds without having to worry about people confronting them about it in real life. Because of this anonymous nature, Tumblr is home to many activist users, who can speak their minds about issues they might not be able to advocate for in their normal, daily lives.

Max - Final Presentation

My final topic is about Coral Bleaching. Many of the world’s coral reefs are struggling or
dying. Currently we are in the third massive bleaching event in human recorded history.
Coral Bleaching is caused by unusually warm or cold water that stays around for longer
periods of time. Due to the fact that the water surrounding the coral is staying outside the
healthy temperature range for the coral for a longer time period, the coral does not get a
chance to recover as it often does when it is able to return to that ideal range. The
bleaching of the coral is when the coral turns white. This is caused by being outside of
the ideal temperature range causing the coral to become stressed and expel an algae
called zooxanthellae. It is the symbiotic relationship that coral has with algae that gives
the coral their color.
It is vital for the human race around the world to try our hardest in maintaining healthy
reef ecosystems. The human race needs to try and lower carbon emissions and overall
reduce greenhouse gases and factors that cause climate change. People need to act now
on trying to come up with ways to save the coral reef by trying to combat Coral
Bleaching. Simply things such as not touching the reef when diving or snorkeling and not
dumping waste into the ocean can have a positive effect on reefs. Climate change is the
biggest contributor to coral bleaching and thus figuring out a way to combat it is going to

be the best chance humans have in terms of saving our coral reefs. I believe that many
people are writing this off as not a serious issue that demands a lot of attention. While it
may not be on the forefront of peoples’ minds now, when the reefs start to die off in the
near future, many people will have regret and remorse for not acting sooner. In
conclusion, people need to invest a lot of time and money now to try and prevent coral
bleaching and having healthy coral reefs, as sustainability is becoming increasingly
important in our growing and over-populated world.
I am making a Prezi presentation for my final project. I decided to take this path, as I
believe it will allow me to portray my topic with a nice balance of written and visual
media. I hope to be able to communicate the significance of the topic through the various
components of my project. I think that with the different media platforms that I include in
my project, my viewers will be able to engage with Coral Bleaching on a deeper level
and hopefully want to get involved with the topic.
I was going to show what I have done on my Prezi to help explain my topic. My Prezi has
a YouTube explanation video of my topic, some facts about my topic and some pictures.
The link to my Prezi is…

1) My final project will consist of an interactive blog. I’ve used Tumblr as my format and
enabled all comments and question options to that anyone can be apart of the blog. The blog’s
theme is how to embrace the web 2.0 of literature. There are several blogs that are for
condemning the e-reader and vice versa for those who believe that the printed book is too elitist.
But I have yet to find an interactive format where both sides of the argument can come together
and actively partake in a conversation about the one thing that connects these two radical sides:
reading itself.
2) I believe that there can come into existence some sort of media platform where physical book
lovers and tablet connoisseurs a like and come together and healthily discuss why or why not
they prefer said form of their common interest; reading! This blog will aid in creating or adding
possibilities to this narrative and hopefully provide an outlet where the opposing views can be
met with the best of what the web 2.0 world has to offer.
3) The vision is already coming together very well, I just need to spend some time and add all of
the various artifacts I’ve found and create a fuller space. The blog will consists of me posting
articles, memes, videos, posts for open questions and answer, where anyone that can find the
blog (I’m hoping that the use of hash tags will provide for people to see it more easily) and is
interested will participate in the conversation.
4) Here is a link to the blog. There are still many more things I plan on adding for the final
product. http://digitalinquisitor.tumblr.com

Sal - Final Presentation

Bullying has been an issue that has plagued my own life and those of close friends, and what becomes the biggest struggle for me is what comes after. The internal conflict, the torment, and the simple nature that believing that being dead is the easiest way to stop the pain. Therefore, I felt like seizing the moment to deliver my own message. A message that is both expressive of my own internal conflict juxtaposed with the concept that life is really not that bad. A guided element of disjointed thoughts, by ending a thought abruptly, but coming back to the piece with something positive adds to the element of self doubt. With the incorporation of some transmedia, emotional affect with music based on some sort of instrumental score, and mocking the traditional script portrayed in modern media, I will deliver my message through spoken word. Through all of this I challenge the normalization that we have begun to create, and hopefully will force and urge individuals to break down the notions surrounding bullying and misconceptions of suicide. After all, we are all human, and we make mistakes, but one mistake easily avoidable is knowing when to bite your tongue and keep your mouth shut. Using two articles published by Karen Walden and Karen Knight and campaigns started on both Facebook and Twitter, I will be able to tell my story and the silent story of so many others afraid to speak up. Ultimately encapsulating the message that being kind to one another well end this silent plagued of suicide in direct adherence to holding each other up and bolster true, honest friendship.

Lily - Final Presentation

MISREPRESENTATION OF BISEXUALITY IN ENTERTAINMENT MEDIA
by Lily Schempf

topic: representation of bisexuality in the media, specifically focussing on entertainment media
Thesis for this project: Popular culture, specifically through mainstream entertainment media, perpetuates a culture that reinforces negative bisexual stereotypes. This in turn invalidates bisexuality as a valid sexual orientation and contributes to negative feelings toward those who identify as bisexual. In the media, bisexuality has become a shorthand for sexual adventurousness instead of a valid and complex sexual identity.
Project:
collage with images of characters from movies and TV shows that are bisexual who reinforce these stereotypes and actresses who have publically come out as identifying themselves as bisexual
  • Annalise Keating (How To Get Away With Murder) and Catherine Trammell (Basic Instincts) are both characters who are dark, manipulative, and calculating. However, their sexuality isn’t part of their identity and is not explicitly revealed, it is more just a result of their dark psychological issues. However, Catherine Trammells behavior is tied to her sexuality. When she has a relationship with a woman, their sexuality and lust is exploited for a male characters gaze.
  • Oberyn (Game of Thrones) is a character who instead of being portrayed as a man who happens to be bisexual, is portrayed as a man who is sexually insatiable. He is promiscuous and over sexualized to the point where he does not care if he engages in sexual behavior with both men and women.
  • Tila Tequila is a bisexual woman who had a popular reality tv show. She is extremely oversexed as well as all the other individuals on the show. They are often scantily dressed and engaging in risky behavior.
  • Thirteen (Olivia Jones, House) is revealed to be bisexual in the series. Her character is seen as more secretive and rebellious than the other doctos and many of the doctors assume she has had many sexual partners.
  • Samantha Jones (Sex and The City) is the most promiscuous character on the show, frequently engaging in sex with men. In one season she engages in a sexual and emotional relationship with a woman only to revert back to dating men. This is a common trope used in movies and TV
  • Piper Chapman (Orange Is The New Black) identifies as a “former lesbian” on the show.
  • Maureen Johnson (RENT) is portrayed as driving her lovers insane and is bad at committment.
  • If a show does portray a bisexual character, often times the writers or producers will deny this fact or completely ignore it -- bisexual erasure
  • Frank Underwood (House of Cards) has revealed that he has had romantic relationships with men. Most of his sexual encounters tend to revolve around the idea of gaining power over the other person and asserting his dominance.
  • images of characters and celebrities are surrounded with common stereotypes of bisexual characters and people
  • “bisexual women are just tourists”
  • “all women are bisexual”
  • “girls just pretend to be bisexual to get attention from men”
  • in the margins I have written the hashtag “#BiIsNotAStereotype” along with several other hashtags to question our cultural views and the stigma surrounding bisexual individuals
  • used a hashtag because it is instantly recognizable and a way to get a message across using very few words. it can connect hundreds of thousands of people to have a conversation pertaining to one serious and important issue such as this topic
  • chose to do a physical collage because I am someone who benefits from physically touching and working with a medium
  • I also believe the scale to which I was able to create this on creates a bigger impact
  • I hoped to make people consider that these stereotypes do exist and they are in direct correlation to how bisexual individuals are presented in mainstream entertainment media
  • important to recognize how these can be extremely harmful to those who are struggling with their sexuality
  • in a generation who is making strides to deflect from this idea of “binaries” to recognize that sexuality is more complex and fluid than we could have ever imagined, the recognition of this is the first step to doing something towards changing this misrepresentation '

Jack - Final Presentation

For my Final Activist Media Project I chose to create two Photo-shopped images to advocate for my stance. Pertaining to class, I found that I related my project to three different ideas discussed during class. Media Convergence, Mimicry, and Rhetoric. Media convergence in the images is evident in that media can be transferred across media. In my project we see media issues today being related to a prison, and Halloween. In terms of mimicry I created images that were in part made to mimic the ludicrous nature we find in political correctness and how far the issue can be taken. Finally, Rhetoric is evidently apparent because my images beg a response. They are made to persuade and influence. Each image shows a side of the argument, therefore begging for a counterargument.
The first image depicted is a group of children after Halloween. The narrator of the scene asks the kids what type of candy they received, which they respond saying, vegan cookies, gluten free granola bars, gender neutral candy, and a Reese’s. The child who received the Reese’s is confused, mocking the people for giving the kids such strange and politically correct. The point of the photo is to illustrate how people try to enforce their personal affiliations and identifications on others for “the sake of political correctness”. It is Halloween, just give candy that they want and stop bringing a personal vendetta against the holiday’s true nature. The second image is of two inmates in a prison cell with one saying “What are you in for mac?” and in response the other says “I said Merry Christmas instead of Happy Holidays”. I chose to concoct this image because of the insane nature that people have against someone saying Merry Christmas. Obviously not everyone celebrates Christmas, therefore we should respect their Holiday’s as well, but no one should be attacked for saying the phrase. Saying Merry Christmas is being attacked and at which point do we relax on this idea of Political Correctness and just accept everyone’s opinions for what they are.

2) Political Correctness is a valuable tool that is essential to the respect amongst the individuals of our nation. The problem with Political Correctness today is that people begin taking the idea too far and jumping to vast conclusions simply because someone was not entirely politically correct, therefore forcing their views on others, rather than just living their lives how they want.

3) My vision for my final project is to find a general consensus for people to come together and stop fighting each other and forcing views on others. I would plan to post these images on social media to hopefully extend to a large viral capacity. I just want people to take a stop back and relax, to stop freaking out over the smallest issues and instead live their lives how they want to, not by caring what other people think.
