1. My final topic is feminism and how it is represented in today’s media culture. I used Tumblr, a social media site to convey my thoughts and the thoughts of many of today’s feminists. Many users on the site are very liberal and post politically charged posts that have to do with important issues in today’s society. Feminism is a large issue that is talked about and blogged about on the site and I thought it would be cool to show this issue through Tumblr.
2. My argument is that feminism needs to be something that everyone supports, and not simply activist women trying to get a point across. Feminism is not controlling men or limiting men, it is about the complete equality of the sexes.
3. My vision for my final project is to create a Tumblr blog that reblogs many popular Tumblr posts that promote feminism. The blog will be a collection of different types of posts ranging from pictures to long text posts, short text posts, and text posts with many comments. This will give the viewer a comprehensive view of how feminism is promoted and represented on Tumblr and the thoughts of today’s society. Anyone can make a Tumblr account and contribute. I believe the culture of Tumblr is so unique because every user on Tumblr can choose to remain completely anonymous if they please. This creates an environment for people to fully speak their minds without having to worry about people confronting them about it in real life. Because of this anonymous nature, Tumblr is home to many activist users, who can speak their minds about issues they might not be able to advocate for in their normal, daily lives.
