Alex - Final Presentation

Topic:
Nature and Nurture:
Unatainable Beauty
Societies expectations of gender roles
biologically or socially constructed
Thesis:
In popular culture there are expectations created by society, such as gender roles and unatainable beauty, these are not biologically constructed, they are socially constructed expectations for our formulated society.

Media Artifact:
In the process of writing and recording a rap but instead of sexualizing women, sexualizing men
giving men an unatainable beauty and females the gender privilege and ‘power'

  1. Hi Alex, I really like the idea of flipping the script and instead of talking about unattainable beauty for women you instead give the same treatment to men. I am very interested in what this rap sounds like. What do you think would be the best route for fixing the gender privilege?

  2. I loved this idea... It always sounds so crazy when roles and speech are reversed.

  3. this is such a rad idea!! especially considering an unhealthy and overwhelming amount of rap throughout the past generations specifically target and sexualize women. It is always so powerful to switch the roles and even better if it can provoke some humor. I'm interested if you will choose the beat to an already existing rap. can't wait to see how it turns out!! good luck :)

  4. Lol, I don’t even know how you came up with this amazing idea Alex :D
Yes keep going on editing and changing the scripts. You can ask the media center I guess for some music that are already there where you can use the song and involve it to your projects. And try to make funny somehow (i.e adding funny sounds) :)
Good luck and I’m waiting for the output!

  5. I really want to hear your rap! I also love that you are going to use it to make a statement but also use gendering as your method. Sometimes, we need to see the roles reversed in order to understand gender issues.
